Rui Alves

Portuguese designer Rui Alves was born in Paços de Ferreira in 1977 and grew up surrounded by woodworking tools. After earning his degree in design, he founded his own studio Rui Alves Design Office. Alves' projects embrace furniture and product design and his work is characterized by a clean and functional aesthetic, a strong sense of craftsmanship and a passion for materials. An example of his art is Tailor, the oak sofa created by the designer for the Menu brand.
