Sergio Asti was a pivotal figure in the emergence of Italian industrial design. Trained as an architect, he opened his studio in Milan in 1953 and was among the founders of ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale). His design philosophy—sober and essential—took shape in lamps and objects defined by refined functionality and timeless elegance. His work embodies a vision of design as a harmonious balance between form, material, and everyday use.
Born in Milan in 1926, Asti collaborated throughout his career with prestigious brands such as FontanaArte, Artemide, Martinelli Luce, and Flexform. His research spanned a wide range of materials, always marked by a thoughtful and innovative approach. Today, many of his creations are housed in major museum collections. Remembered as one of Italy’s first true industrial designers, he passed away in 2021, leaving an enduring legacy in the history of design.
