Stefano Boeri, Italian urban architect and designer, was born in Milan in 1956. He founded the Boeri Studio in 1999, and in 2008 it became Stefano Boeri Architetti, a multidisciplinary team dealing with urban architecture, interior and product design. His creative approach is set between city and nature, and expressed through some extraordinary architectural works such as the Vertical Forest in Milan, prototype of a residential building covered with over 700 trees and 20.000 plants.
Boeri’s creativity has also been involved in lighting design with the creation of some powerful luminous sculptures, such as the Lasospesa table lamp for FontanaArte. Stefano Boeri is an ordinary professor at the Polytechnic of Milan and a visiting Professor at many international universities. In Shanghai, he runs the Future City Lab at the Tongji University of Shanghai. Among his projects, the reconstruction of the centres of Amatrice and Norcia, two Italian cities devastated by an earthquake.
