Superstudio

Florence-based Superstudio, founded in 1966 by architects Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia, ranks among the most acclaimed and influential Radical Design groups. It was later joined by Roberto Magris, Alessandro Magris, Gianpiero Frassinelli and Alessandro Poli. Superstudio has designed chairs, sofas, stools, desks, tables and accessories with visionary approach, such as Zanotta's Quaderna collection and Poltronova's Sofo.

Superstudio's experimental work began with the Superarchitettura exhibition in 1966. Architecture rejects rationality, making way for what is irrational. Its transversal approach was able to mix photography, painting, graphic and industrial design, anthropology and cinema. Superstudio, in collaboration with Archizoom Associates, Ettore Sottsass, the 9999 Group and others, started the Global Tools workshops with the aim of spreading the ideas of Radical Architecture.
