Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894-1984) was one of the most important architects in Danish history. Leading the avant-garde of Danish functionalism, he was the author of famous architecture works and his design creations light up with the same concept. In collaboration with famed brands such as Louis Poulsen, he developed lamps that reveal dramatic interplays of light and shadow through a lighter and deeper diffusion.
A well-known functionalist, Vilhlem Lauritzen devoted himself to the development and improvement of his lighting fixtures, producing numerous pieces. During his career, the artist conceived buildings such as the Nørrebro Theatre, the Daells Varehus department store, Radiohuset and Kastrup's first airport, which represented the essence of contemporaneity. His first lamp was designed between 1926 and 1929 for Fritzsches Glashandel and was named Universal Suspension.
