Earthquake Tray

Earthquake Tray by the Budri brand, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is part of the Earthquake 5.9 collection, created as a creative response to the earthquake that struck Emilia in May 2012, also directly involving the company. This marble tray is the result of a process of recomposition, in which fragments of destroyed slabs are transformed into objects with a strong symbolic and visual value.

The shape is asymmetrical, the graphic sign decisive, obtained by masterfully juxtaposing polychrome marbles of great value: Fior di Pesco, Rosa Portogallo, Light Giallo Siena and Bianco Lasa. Each element is cut and reassembled with extreme precision, resulting in a surface that tells a story of rupture and rebirth.

The design approach combines memory, craftsmanship and experimentation, transforming a traumatic event into a work of design capable of arousing emotion. With Earthquake, Budri and Patricia Urquiola propose a new aesthetic of marble, where beauty emerges from fragmentation and the material takes on a deeply human meaning.

Patricia Urquiola, Spanish designer and architect, is among the most brilliant female personalities of the contemporary design panorama. In 2001 she founded the Patricia Urquiola Studio with Alberto Zontone, dealing with product design, architecture, artistic direction and strategic consultancy. The core of her style is a fundamental principle: conceiving spaces or objects in relation to people. This approach is reflected in all of her works, considered to be design masterpieces: from the Fjord and Lilo sofas by Moroso, to the Husk and Crinoline seats and the Bend Sofa by B&B Italia; from the T-Table by Kartell to the Salinas kitchen by Boffi, just to mention a few.
