Gibbous is a mirror designed by designer Michael Anastassiades for the Cassina brand.

The name Gibbous comes from the shape of the moon when it is larger than half but not yet full, a perfect description for the rounded but not quite circular shape of the mirror. The Gibbous mirror with the underside folded to form a small shelf, perfect for resting objects on. One of the distinguishing features of Gibbous is its LED backlighting. This feature adds not only an aesthetic aspect, but also a practical one, as the illumination can help improve visibility when the mirror is being used. Available in different sizes, the Gibbous mirror can be used in a variety of settings, both residential and commercial.

Michael Anastassiades is a Cypriot designer who founded his studio in 1994 in London to explore the contemporary notions of culture and aesthetics through a combination of products, furniture and environmental design. His creations are at the crossroad between industrial design and decorative art and are meant to provoke dialogue, participation and interaction with those who come in close contact whith them. Especially well known for his lighting production, Anastassiades combines simple geometric shapes such as tubes, oblongs and spheres with shiny surfaces and reflective materials, such as mirrored glass and polished bronze. His lights decorate hotels, restaurants and stores worldwide.
