Gan Goz Rugs Designed by Kengo Kuma

Goz is a collection of carpets designed by Kengo Kuma, produced by Gan, a company based on the potential of Indian craftsmanship and materials selected from the best natural or recycled fibres.

Goz shows in each of his carpets the Japanese architect's vision of craftsmanship, perceived through listening to materials and a taste for their intrinsic properties. Each creation bears the name of a natural element to which the weave of fibre and wood has been linked: Tsuchi, Kiri and Ame stand for fog, rain and earth respectively. On the loom, the expert craftsmen insert teak wood rods, with circular, semicircular or square cross-section, in a structure of undyed virgin wool. The emotional component of each knot, expertly handcrafted, is emphasised. The result focuses the genuine beauty of these carpets on the coexistence of materials in nature.
