Foscarini Gregg Floor Lamp Designed by Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba

In 2019 the glass pebble by Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba rises from the ground: the Gregg floor lamp by Foscarini is born, carrying the organic form of the collection to the top of a stem. Its silhouette recalls a large stone smoothed by water, and this version is part of the Mix&Match system, conceived to offer wide freedom of use.

The glass is mouth-blown and kept motionless in the mould, a method called «a fermo», before an acid immersion gives it its satin skin. Stem and base are in liquid-painted metal; in the base, a ballast gives stability to the whole. Beside a sofa or in a corner of the living room, the Gregg floor lamp looks like a pebble held up by a slender vertical support, bringing a luminous volume with a soft outline into the room.

The light is diffused and passes through the whole glass, without a directed beam. On the transparent cable, a dimmer adjusts the intensity by degrees: at full strength the lamp lights the room; lowered, it leaves a soft, gathered glow. Standing directly on the floor, the Gregg floor lamp brings light without taking up side tables or furniture, and its stone-like silhouette can be read even when it is off.
