La Manufacture Intersection Bookshelf Designed by Neri & Hu

Intersection Bookshelf by La Manufacture is part of the eponymous living furniture collection designed by Neri&Hu during the 2020 pandemic. This historic event prompts the design duo to reflect on the value of community and sharing, such as that which takes place in monasteries.

Designers Neri & Hu designed the Intersection series of bookshelves with sliding panels, as part of the 'Intersection' collection celebrating monastic life. The use of natural or stained wood panels gives this range of bookshelves a simple yet sculptural air. Simplicity expressed through clean, uncluttered lines, evoking traditional, religious furniture that prioritises function over ornamentation. Despite its simple and austere appearance, this collection designed and developed during the pandemic exudes a certain sense of tranquillity and serenity. It is an invitation to focus on what really matters, on the true essence of everyday life.
