Cassina 6 Table Tube D'Avion - Table

6 Table Tube D'Avion is a table designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928 for Cassina. It has a steel base available in a variety of finishes (grey, light blue, green, mud, ivory or black enamelled steel base) equipped with four supporting points with steel threaded shanks that permit height adjustment up to 50 mm. The top is available in crystal, textured glass, natural or black stained oak or Canaletto walnut. The table comes also in two new versions: with top in white Carrara o black Marquina marble only with base in black.

This table enhances the values of purity and simplicity promoted by the Modern Movement. Simple but elegant, designed taking care of ideal proportions to make it functional and balanced, so suitable to every living space. The base of this table was designed in 1928 using the ovoidal profiles adopted in aviation to maintain separate the wings of biplanes. The distinctive idea of the 6 Table Tube D'Avion is to make a distinction between its load-bearing base and the top that was to be supported. Each piece is completely autonomous and this is highlighted by the addition of the four middle support pieces used to adjust the height and keep the slim rectangular top in place over its heavy base.
