&Tradition Little Petra VB1 Lounge Chair Designed by Viggo Boesen

The Little Petra VB1 armchair by &Tradition, designed by Viggo Boesen in 1938, is one of the icons of Danish funkis. Presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition and awarded in New York and Berlin, it is a classic of Scandinavian design.

Originally created as a bespoke piece, handcrafted and produced in only 30 examples, the Little Petra armchair remained largely unknown to the public for decades, until its rediscovery in the archives. Inspired by Boesen’s 1934 trip to New York and dedicated to his mother-in-law Petra, it celebrated its eightieth anniversary in 2018, reaffirming itself as one of the early signals of what would later become Danish Modern.

Little Petra is an indoor lounge chair with compact proportions: 75 cm in height, 81 cm in width and 83 cm in depth, featuring a low and welcoming seat and a total weight of 20 kg. The frame, made of solid beech and plywood, is padded with HR foam and polyester wadding, and offered with textile upholstery or soft sheepskin in Moonlight or Sahara. The solid wood legs, fitted with felt gliders, support an embracing shell available in Ecriture, Hallingdal and Karakorum finishes. Natural variations in the curls and tones of the sheepskin make each piece unique and one of a kind.
