Object of desire, enveloping island in which to take refuge in the evening, in the company of a book, a TV series or loved ones. The sofa is the main furniture of the living room and therefore plays a central role in the furnishing balance as well as in our domestic life. It is the soul of our most precious moments and for this reason it must be comfortable, but it is also the heart of the "public" area of the house and therefore must be taken care of in the smallest details: from the shape, to the choice of fabric, passing through the dimensions and any accessories. An important choice, with long-term effects, in which it is right to invest all your attention. After all, only successful projects stand the test of time: they do not age in style, they are made with quality materials that respond optimally to everyday use and are comfortable. Let's see together some of them, with a different style, but all iconic and with character.

William  by  Damian Williamson for Zanotta

William by Zanotta

Minimized lines and overlaps of thin layers. The William sofa designed by Damian Williamson for Zanotta is the expression of a new minimalism which, while contemplating the essentiality of the forms, does not neglect comfort. William is a sofa that focuses on attention to detail: the feet in polished aluminum alloy, the cushions, with regular and generous shapes, padded with the right amount of goose down, the removable covers and the practical shelf in solid oak or walnut canaletto. The collection consists of an armchair, monobloc and modular sofas, poufs, dormeuse and relative shelves: an authentic living room system.

Redondo  by  Patricia Urquiola for  Moroso (on the cover)

Patricia Urquiola's creative flair emerges in all its power in this feminine, ironic and elegant project. There are two aesthetic characteristics that conquer the eye: the roundness of the shapes that inspire hospitality, and the texture of the quilted upholstery in order to create a pleasant geometric, three-dimensional effect, but also to amplify its comfort. The inspiration is that of the seats of American cars of the 1950s and the result is informal but with character.

Develius by  Edward van Vliet for &Tradition

Develius by &Tradition

Edward van Vliet works on the archetype of the modular sofa giving life to a system of essential modular elements but capable of giving life to a wide variety of solutions. Thanks to the chaise longue element, in particular, the living room can be equipped with a relaxation corner and thanks to the different fabrics available, a completely personalized style can be given.

Lapis  by Emanuel Gargano and Anton Cristell for Amura

Lapis by Amura

On the other hand, the Lapis system by Emanuel Gargano and Anton Cristell for Amura is inspired by organic forms: the concept is that of the reunion between man and nature which is expressed in round shapes, memory foam padding and the possibility of combining the elements freely. It is thus possible to obtain a sofa of classic inspiration, but also a freer and more unexpected composition that suggests different uses of the upholstery.

Super Beam  by  Patricia Urquiola for Cassina

Super Beam by Cassina

Super Beam was born from the desire for an oversized sofa, to better interpret the space in which it is inserted but also to make it even more welcoming and capacious. Armrests and backrest meet like petals of a corolla and the whole, despite its large dimensions, remains graceful and discreet.

Chester by Poltrona Frau

Chester by Poltrona Frau

We conclude with the iconic sofa par excellence, which despite being born in the past, has been able to reinvent itself thanks to the expertise of the company that has interpreted it more than others: it is the Chester sofa by Poltrona Frau. The main features, the capitonné and the rounded armrest, remain the cornerstones, but the sofa can also take on a very contemporary and always sophisticated look, as in the image.
