In his career he received five Compassi d'Oro awards, the last of which in 2011 for his career. Mari was the author of over 1.500 design objects made mainly by Italian companies. Among the most significant we mention thechair for , the chair for , the chair for the same brand and the very imitated table for .
For Mari, design is primarily a project, and the project analyzes the object in its relationship with the rest of the world, so it must be simple, repairable, recyclable, sustainable. Enzo Mari plays an important role in the history of Italian design also for his activity as a theorist, which he has always supported an active political commitment.
His works are exhibited in the main art and design museums in the world: in this period the Milan Triennale has just dedicated an exhibition to him that documents his over 60 years of activity through projects, models, drawings and often unpublished materials.
