Oriental design and immagination: the best ingredients of Sciangai coat rack
An original and elegant design element, that combines functionality and beauty, for those who love decorating their home saving space. Sciangai coat rack by Zanotta was inspired by this concept and these necessities and signed by the three Italian designers Jonathan De Pas, Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi that took inspiration from the famous Chinese board game, composed by some sticks that are held in the hand and then dropped on a table to start the challenge. As a matter of fact Sciangai has eight wooden slats that create a circumference with a solid base, and it can be used either closed or opened. Each element constitutes a floor support and it is at once a hanging place for clothing and accessories at its upper extremity.
A humble but fresh object that became an icon, so much so it was awarded important prizes (among these the BIO Design Award prize) and exposed in the most important industrial design museums worldwide, such as the MoMA of New York, the Museum of Jerusalem and the Kunstgewerbemuseum of Berlin.
