Paola Lenti discovers Sicily and reveals it in a "travel diary" between colors and enchanting architecture
“But don’t forget, at the same time, to value the most enduring aspects of Sicily: that sky, that sea, miraculously resistant to the insults of chemicals; blazing volcanoes, gently rolling hills, the valleys where rivers with names as sweet as honey flow; legends that still live on people lips in an atmosphere of mythology; small shops where incomparable craftsmen repeat the ancient actions of hard labour; the windows with blossoming terracotta pots, behind which a brunette smiles; the churches of blond stone, as delicate as fleshy creatures; the squares where every day billboards anticipate a new episode of the Opera dei Pupi, which shows life that never changes; men, the millions of small dark men, with a welcoming heart, even if bristling with plausible insincerity and fiery as molten lava…”.entrusts the beginning of her photographic diary of Sicily to the words of the writer Gesualdo Bufalino: sweetness and determination, architecture and colors are just some of the aspects that emerge in the words of the author and in the shots in which the collections of the the company are part of the privileged background of some of the most beautiful and secret corners of the area. Historical buildings, contemporary contexts and breathtaking naturalistic scenarios: a unique context in the world to be discovered in the volume, of which we propose some shots, born as an evolution of the Viaggio in SIcilia event, proposed by Paola Lenti at Fuorisalone 2016. On the cover, Sabi armchair and Portofino table, all the pictures are by Sergio Chimenti.
The internal courtyard of a historic building, animated by luxuriant plants, is the backdrop for the Sabi sofa which in color seems to evoke the lava of Etna. With a contemporary, almost austere design, the sofa, as well as the whole collection, changes its face based on the color to choose from in the wide and varied range available. The structure is in stainless steel, the base is in sassafras wood, the structure is covered in Thuia fabric and hand-woven Rope cord. The cushions are in non-deformable polyurethane with waterproof treatment.
Lella armchairs andcoffee table
A magical corner of a courtyard is transformed into a conversation area: the small tub, with its decorative power, needs nothing else, only discreet and comfortable furnishings. Like the Lella armchairs: folding, with solid black locust wood structure and steel details, all covered with wengé-colored paint. They combine with the Giro coffee table with steel base, aluminum structure and top available in lightened concrete, Accoya® wood, in Luce, in Venice, in different types of granite or in stainless steel.
armchairs and coffee table
The historical facades of Sicily can be assimilated to the precious collection of a collective museum: to be studied carefully, they tell stories and reveal secrets. And here this terrace houses the armchairs and the table of the Portofino collection. The seats are an interpretation of the "director's chair", a classic garden bed in a more structured and comfortable key. The coffee table, from the same collection, can also be a stool, eliminating the tray that acts as a support surface.
sofas, and Calatini tables, mattresses
We move outside, to contemplate the overwhelming beauty of the island nature. The Mediterranean and elegant vegetation, the intense blue of the sea and the sky, are the backdrop for the Ola sofas which, together with the Plump mattresses and the Sciara tables, also play with the shades of turquoise, inserting themselves with extreme naturalness into the context.
Cabanne shade structure, tables, Hip pouf, carpet
Sicily is not only the beauty of the past but also the ability to transform and marry the contemporary by dressing with exclusive elegance: in the image, the Cabanne gazebo creates a shaded and essential outdoor lounge, in which the Sciara tables, Hip poufs and Air Carpet find their ideal location.
