More and more design companies are developing innovative pendant lamps that allow you to place the light source, regardless of the position of the electrical outlets, anywhere in the room. We have selected some hanging lamps that through the exposed cables delimit the space in a creative way and create unexpected geometries.

1. String Light by Michael Anastassiades forย  Flos

String Light by Flos

"Every time I take a train, I sit in front of the window and observe the effect of high speed on the perfectly parallel series of wires connecting the light pylons." Thus Michael Anastassiades describes the inspiring principle of the String Light ceiling lamp (on the cover). A black electric wire that enters into a relationship with the architecture of a space, inserting itself precisely into the lines formed by the walls of a room. A design that goes in the direction of abstraction, a search for purity, to bring objects and materials back to the bare dimension of their origins.

The North lamps, designed by Arik Levy, adapt to the differences in angle and light intensity dictated by the changing seasons. Neuro is a simple project, almost a reinterpretation of old electrical systems: the idea of bringing the light wherever you want, starting from an electrical outlet. A plug, a cable, insulators, a lamp holder and a led bulb.

6. Les Acrobates de Gras ย diย  DCW รฉditions

Les Acrobates de Gras by DCW รฉditions

In 1921 Bernard-Albin Gras designed a series of lamps for use in offices and in industrial environments. The Gras lamp, as it was subsequently called, was astounding in its simple, robust and yet very ergonomic design. The lamps, as acrobats, soar through the air hanging from thin ropes combining movement, color and rhythm to propose a new lighting solution.
