Around the world in eighty design fairs? Not really, but almost. Yes, because September is the month of "autumn" fairs that go crazy around the world. It starts with Maison & Objet in Paris (just concluded) and ends with Vienna passing through Homi Milan, Valencia, Helsinki and even Warsaw and especially London. Some have a more international dimension, others are an interesting focus on emerging local talents, all are imagined as great design parties, with creative catwalks, installations, talks. The I-Made exhibition is part of the London Design Festival, an exhibition dedicated to the main Italian design companies, curated by Giulio Cappellini, hosted in the prestigious Saatchi & Saatchi Gallery. Also at Helsinki Design Week, Italian design is the protagonist, since Alberto Alessi will play the role of "international friend" of Habitare, the main event of the week. But where do trends really decide? Well as far as home accessories are concerned, the benchmark is Paris, while for furniture London is always growing strongly and is probably the only one that could aspire to compete with Milan. So let's see some previews and news from the most important fairs.

Maison & Objet, Paris

Vase Maestro by Jaime Hayon

Bossanova by Bosa

What we saw at the last edition of Maison & Objet is a lively house, full of color and with a playful soul. A house furnished and decorated to be shared with those around us, in an informal way, but with attention to the smallest details. The irony, the forms, the chromatic games are wisely interpreted by companies, which show a renewed enthusiasm and desire to experiment. An example is the TheatreHayon collection, created by  Jaime Hayon for Bosa , which presented a new element, the Maestro vase, at the Paris fair. A deconstructed juggler who transforms a classic vase into irreverent and mocking sculpture, beautiful and very original. Bosa also launches Bossanova, a series of tables formed by geometric modules, designed by Pepa Reverter.  Vitra also lets itself be enchanted by the color and presents its Vitra Accessories Collection at the fair, composed by the creations of historic designers such as Jean Prouvé and the Herringbone line of designers Raw Edges (on the cover). Pillows, vases and small sculptures colored with the technique of overlapping colors, by immersion. On the occasion of the Paris fair Vitra also presented a special edition of the Eames Eucalyptus LTR Tables, for which timber from the trees of the Eames House which is located on the California coast was used.

London Design Festival, London

Kaipo Too by MOOOI

Tom Dixon

London Design Week, starting September 14th, consists of a rich calendar of exhibitions, events and talks. A program halfway between business and the mundane, in which the city comes alive and design also manifests itself in institutional settings, such as museums. Among the leading brands, Moooi will present the Hana Armchair designed by the Italian Simone Bonanni. Spacious, enveloping, funny and ironic, the armchair is characterized by a large headrest that evokes the corolla of a flower. Italy returns, even in the other preview by Moooi, the  Kaipo Too lamp, designed by Edward van Vliet and blown by Venetian glassmakers. It is the archetype of the classic lamp, made contemporary by the lines and colors proposed. The London Design Festival has awarded, this year,  Tom Dixon with the recognition of the London Design Medal for having distinguished himself in his field and having shown excellence in design. As part of the design week, the British designer will present an event dedicated to the 5 senses in his King's Cross headquarters, inaugurated last year. Here you can also learn about and buy the latest collections: Fat , Swirl Spring and Opal and the new fragrances, Alchemy and Underground (in the picture).

Helsinki Design Week

Citterio 98 by Antonio Citterio

Among the lesser-known fairs, it is worth mentioning Habitare, the design fair within the Helsinki design week. Scandinavian and particularly Finnish design will be the protagonist here. Among the most famous brands,  Iittala will not be missing, which will present an autumn setting. In the image, the  Citterio 98 cutlery set by
