Gufram Mano Sculpture Designed by Cinzia Ruggeri

Designed by Cinzia Ruggeri in 2000 and now part of the Gufram catalogue, Mano is a domestic sculpture that sits between gesture and function. Made of velvet, this open hand resting on the palm lends itself to multiple readings: it can suggest an invitation to stop, evoke a greeting or, if placed horizontally, turn into an organically shaped seat. Ruggeri, a central figure in the Italian radical design scene, has always explored hybrid territories, moving between fashion, art and furniture with an unconventional outlook.

In his work, each object becomes a vehicle for a broader vision, capable of subverting the norm. Mano is part of a triptych that also includes Cane Pipì and Colombra, united by a design that challenges the rules of use and aesthetics. In line with the designer's attitude, this seat-sculpture is not conceived as a simple functional element, but as a fragment of a personal and conceptual visual language. The material, the gesture, the position: everything contributes to suspending Mano in a balance between the everyday and the symbolic. Not an object to be exhibited, but a form that inhabits and reflects the identity of those who choose it.
