Mantis BS1 is a floor lamp designed by Bernard Schottlander and produced by the brand DCW Édition.
Mantis, created by designer Bernard Schottlander, is a lamp with a strong, modern style. The elegant nickel body comprises base, arm, and counterweight, and connects to a refined black satin aluminium reflector. These lamps were designed in 1951 but look very contemporary and perfect in any environment, be it a living room, a study, or an office. They move lightly in space, allowing the desired orientation of the light source thanks to the 4-position adjustable arm that can be rotated 360°, and the diffuser that can be tilted up to 27 degrees. These features make Mantis an up-to-date and unique lamp that will meet any requirement in terms of lighting and design.

Designed by Bernard Schottlander
Bernard Schottlander is a British designer of German origin. His experience first as a welder and then as a sculptor has deeply influenced his work to such an extent that he has defined himself as a designer for the indoors and a sculptor for the outdoors. According to him, “sculpture is the art of silence, of objects that must speak for themselves”. His artistic education is visible in the designs realised for DCW éditions, with the Mantis series of floor, table and ceiling lamps.

Founded by Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler in 2008, DCWéditions a brand operating in the lighting design industry. The company proudly reissues emblematic masterpieces such as the Lampe Gras lamps, which became 20th century icons and were much favored by Le Corbusier.
