Designer Pierre Paulin distinguished himself with this armchair thanks to its original shape, bright colors and manufacturing technique that was revolutionary for the time. The idea of the mushroom came to Pierre Paulin as he looked at the women, modeled and dressed in their bathing suits. The inspiration was found in the beautiful curves and one-piece stretch fabric of the seamless swimsuits.
In 1958 Paulin began his research on stretch fabric upholstery and collaborated with the Artifort development department, revolutionizing the way the world viewed design in terms of form, materials and fabrics.
