The ND52 Vita sofa, designed in 1952 by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel and reissued by Carl Hansen & Søn with faithful attention to the original design and craftsmanship, emerged as a response to the rigidity of postwar functionalism. The exposed solid wood frame supports a seat defined by fluid, continuous lines. The tall, slender backrest lifts lightly, almost suspended, giving the piece a distinct yet balanced identity.
