Cassina Nuage à Plots Bookcase - Wall Designed by Charlotte Perriand

The wall-mounted bookcase Nuage à Plots, designed by Charlotte Perriand and produced by the Cassina brand, stems from a reflection on the use of space as an organized structure. An evolution of the original Nuage model, it takes up the idea developed from observations made in the Kyoto Imperial Palace, where a series of shelves seemed to float in a free but balanced arrangement. In this version, designed exclusively for wall installation, the bookcase is configured as a visual grid built on the alternation of shelves and vertical elements.

So-called “plots” - made of one-piece curved aluminum - replace sides and backs, creating a pattern of solids and voids that articulates the wall surface. Unlike the freestanding model, this variant is distinguished by the absence of doors and a fixed depth of 33.5 cm, which defines a thin, uncluttered line.

The structure anchors itself to the wall discreetly, letting the rhythm of the materials emerge: natural or black-stained oak for the shelves, anodized or matte-painted aluminum in white or black tones for the supports. Nuage à Plots interprets the wall as an active field, in which function and composition find a measured balance.
