George Sowden, born in Leeds, moved to Milan in 1970, where he founded his own studio in 1979. A founding member of the Memphis collective in 1981, he is known for his free-spirited, decorative, and unconventional style. In 2010, he launched his namesake brand, SOWDEN. Over the years, he has collaborated with international companies like Hay and artisanal producers, cultivating a passion for patterns and decoration that began in the 1970s and continues to shape his work—balancing industrial design with visual experimentation.
