Petite Potence Abat-Jour Conique is a wall lamp designed by Jean Prouvé and produced by Vitra. Available in different finishes.
Jean Prouvé created the first version of the Potence wall lamp in the 1940s for his house in Nancy: a simple light bulb attached to a long, pivoting steel bar, which is supported by a steel wire. This functionalist and purist design was soon produced in various sizes, with an additional handle on larger models to facilitate the swivelling movement. Petite Potence Abat-Jour Conique has similar proportions to the larger Potence model, while its compact dimensions are ideal for smaller interiors. The swing arm is 103 cm long, with a powder-coated finish in colours derived from the original shades used by Prouvé. The cable is covered in a high-quality fabric casing and the LED bulb is dimmable. Unlike the classic Petite Potence, this version features a beautiful fabric and plastic diffuser. Thanks to its aesthetics, the Petite Potence Abat-Jour Conique is the ideal lighting choice for a wide variety of environments, from dining rooms to living rooms, offices or cafeterias.

Jean Prouvé was born in 1901 in Nancy and completed his training as a metal artisan in Paris. He went on to open his workshop in his native town in the early 1920s. He was one of the firsts who devoted themselves to metal prefabbrication, which made him a reference point for rationalist architects and designers, such as Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Marcel Lodsed, Eugène Beaudoin, Yona Friedman e Georges Candilis. Although being self-taught in the field of engineering and architecture, he gave a decisive contribution to post-war reconstruction in France and designed a wide range of objects, from modular building systems to chairs, imposing a style which combines beauty and materials functionality.
