Zanotta Quaderna Coffee Table 710/S Designed by Superstudio

The Quaderna coffee table is part of the historic collection designed by the Superstudio collective for Zanotta, regarded as a manifesto of Italian radical design. Born in the 1970s, the project explores the designers’ study of “Histograms,” objects built on an orthogonal grid, with rigorous geometries and formal precision.

Made of drum-wood veneered with white Print laminate, the Quaderna coffee table is distinguished by its characteristic isotropic checkered pattern with 3 cm spacing. The digital printing of the panels creates slight variations in the lines, carefully calibrated to ensure visual continuity on every side, producing an object that is both precise and visually harmonious.

Fifty years after its creation, the Quaderna collection continues to celebrate its success with new models, reaffirming its status as a timeless icon of contemporary design. Its significance is recognized internationally: it is included in the permanent collections of museums such as the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the MoMA in New York, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and many others.

Awarded the Gold Medal at the International M.I.A. Exhibition in 1971, the Quaderna coffee table continues to embody Italian design excellence. In 2019, it was selected for the Quirinale Contemporaneo project, furnishing the halls of the Quirinale Palace with its linear, rigorous forms, exemplifying Italy’s ability to combine aesthetics, quality, and innovation.
