Radiohus A 3-seater sofa is a piece of furniture from 1936 re-proposed in a contemporary key by the brand Menu to allow you to furnish your living room with a true icon of Scandinavian design. It is in fact a design created by Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting Radio House, an iconic building of Scandinavian architecture.
Radiohus The 3-seater sofa is one of the best known works of Vilhelm Lauritzen, a pioneer of Nordic functionalism, who designed this upholstered piece by eschewing the straight, schematic lines that until then had been an expression of innovation, and opting instead for delicate curves that can be enjoyed from several angles. The line is perfectly in tune with the architecture of the place for which it was created, where rooms are defined in airy, open, curved volumes that dominate shapes and atmospheres. The elegant wooden frame supports the shaped seat and backrest, which are specially structured to support the body evenly. To accentuate the cosy charm of Radiohus Sofa, there is a buttoned quilting that punctuates the dynamic and decisive volume of the backrest. The elegant wooden frame supports the contoured seat.
3-seater sofa in solid oak or walnut, plastic, steel, solid beech, plywood, foam, felt, quilted foam, pocketed springs and rubber. The wooden parts of the base are CNC-carved, then polished and oiled by hand to achieve a silky feel. The internal plywood parts are made of a foam surface, ready for final upholstery, to achieve a soft seat. Upholstery available in three fabric variants, the button covers can be chosen to contrast or match the upholstery. Seat height: 45 cm.
Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894-1984) was one of the most important architects in Danish history. Leading the avant-garde of Danish functionalism, he was the author of famous architecture works and his design creations light up with the same concept. In collaboration with famed brands such as Louis Poulsen, he developed lamps that reveal dramatic interplays of light and shadow through a lighter and deeper diffusion.
Audo Copenhagen seamlessly blends a century of Danish design tradition with a dynamic, ever-evolving global vision. Resulting from the union of Menu, The Audo, and by Lassen, this brand forges a new narrative, driven by the aspiration to foster a sense of community through design.
