The Shanghai XL bookcase by Alivar, designed by Giuseppe Bavuso, is a bold, modern statement piece that enhances any space with its sculptural form. The external frame is crafted from heat-treated or black-stained oak, offering a rich, natural finish. The inner frame is made from Baydur, a rigid structural polyurethane formed in a steel mold for durability and lightweight strength.

This inner structure is coated in grey spatulated concrete or finished with matt paint, selected from Alivar’s wood samples card, creating a refined, contemporary look. Due to the non-linear elements of the design, slight imperfections in adhesion and varnish are normal and add to the piece’s artisanal character.
