Gubi T877 Side Table Designed by Pierre Paulin

Designed by Pierre Paulin in 1970, the T877 side table reflects the evolution of his design research, balancing technical experimentation with compositional clarity. Created as a companion to the F300 lounge chair, it shares the same commitment to fluid form and organic lines. The T877 emerged during a period when innovative materials like fiberglass were used to transcend traditional design constraints. The result is a compact object with no hard edges, where every surface appears shaped in a continuous flow.

Gubi’s reissue remains faithful to the original visual concept, replacing fiberglass with HiREK®, a technical polymer that is lightweight, durable, and suitable for outdoor use. This material choice not only retains the plastic quality of the original design but also introduces a sustainable element through the use of recycled industrial plastic. The current production achieves a high level of finish without the need for additional surface treatments.

Though originally conceived as an accessory, the T877 stands as an autonomous element that integrates seamlessly into both domestic and contract spaces. Its presence is discreet yet distinct, echoing the coherence and clarity that defined Paulin’s approach. A contemporary color range further expands its application, while preserving the integrity of the original vision.
