The look of The Flag Halyard Chair appears strikingly futuristic, yet its origin was born on a warm summer afternoon under very ordinary circumstances. While children played in the shallow waters along the beach, Wegner dug into the sand to create a comfortable spot for himself, envisioning the perfect seat for holiday relaxation. Although known for his preference for wood, Wegner here demonstrates curiosity and boldness in using steel, paying homage to modernist pioneers such as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, and Marcel Breuer.
