Untitled Vase H. 47 cm

The Untitled H47 Vase, designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1958 for Bitossi Ceramiche, is an iconic work that reflects the deep connection between the designer and the historic Tuscan manufacturer.

With a silhouette inspired by a chalice, the vase conveys an essential and contemporary aesthetic, defined by a harmonious balance of geometry and craftsmanship. Entirely handmade from white clay, it embodies the expertise of Bitossi’s artisans, who meticulously oversee every stage from wheel-throwing to glazing. The two-tone surface, finished in matte white and black, creates a refined visual contrast that enhances the purity of its proportions and formal simplicity.

Part of the black-and-white series, the Untitled H47 Vase reinterprets mid-century Italian design with a minimalist and timeless approach. A sculptural object that fits naturally into both modern and classic interiors, bringing a sense of balance and sophistication to any space.

Designed by Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass Jr was born in Innsbruck in 1917 by a homonymous father and an Austrian mother. In 1939 he graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Torino. Architect, designer and photographer, Sottsass were among the most influential figures of radical design. In 1957 he became Art Director for the brand Poltronova, creating some of their iconic pieces such as the Ultrafragola mirror. In 1981 he founded the Memphis group, an Italian design and architecture collective distinguished by the use of bright colours and eccentric geometrical figures.
