VLA61 Monarch Chair

Carl Hansen & Son's VLA61 Monarch Chair, designed in 1944 by renowned architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, is a chair with armrests with a thoroughly contemporary appeal.

Originally produced in only ten examples, VLA61 has generous upholstery that characterizes both the seat and the wide backrest, both covered in fabric. Starting with the architect's initial sketches, an attempt was made to render as faithfully as possible the rendering of this characteristic seat. Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Carl Hansen & Søn thus take up a design idea from 1944 to bring it to life and make it soar on the international design scene, just like the name it bears, a tribute to the great architect's passion for butterflies.
