Vitra Wire Chair DKL Designed by Charles & Ray Eames

The Wire Chair DKL with La Fonda base, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, represents an evolution of their research on the one-piece ergonomic shell. Made entirely of welded steel wire, the seat highlights a light and transparent structure that combines technical precision with functional comfort.

The model is offered in several versions: without upholstery, with a single cushion, or with a cover for both seat and backrest. The latter, due to its distinctive shape, is often referred to as the “bikini”. This range of options allows the chair to adapt to different settings while retaining its unmistakable identity.

Introduced in 1951, the Wire Chairs mark one of the most experimental moments in the Eames’ work, interpreting the idea of seating through a three-dimensional wire mesh. The La Fonda base, in polished cast aluminum, gives the model both balance and durability.
