Bolia Zen Rounded Rug Designed by Studio Emily Broom

The Zen collection is a project by Studio Emily Broom, winner of the 2020 Bolia Design Awards. It starts from the idea of the home as a private and protected space, where design helps establish clarity and continuity. The rugs are inspired by the essential layout of Japanese gardens, where each element serves a defined and deliberate role. The design features simple geometry, soft edges, and a continuous surface, free from decorative detail. Each rug is handmade from 100% uncut wool, a material chosen for its compactness, durability, and visual coherence. Due to the artisanal production, slight variations in dimensions may occur, without affecting functionality or overall appearance. The four available finishes offer a balanced palette suitable for both linear and more layered interiors. Available in several sizes, Zen rugs do more than outline an area—they influence the perception of space. The project reflects on the relationship between object, environment, and daily rhythm, with a focus on essential design and long-term use.
