The cancellation of the Salone del Mobile - the largest annual event in the sector - caused by Coronavirus has created some turmoil in the design community. But Vitra , which has a significant presence at the Salone every year, has tried to find a virtual solution to the void left by the Salone del Mobile.

Vitra Autumn 2020

To present new products and updates for autumn 2020, Vitra presents four living environments created by four different interior design studios. The virtual presentation consists of four vignettes that have been set up on the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, Germany.

With different backgrounds, both in architecture and design, each studio has conceived an absolutely unique setting. Made with a series of imaginary characters in mind, these unique domestic settings feature products by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Antonio Citterio, Konstantin Grcic, Jasper Morrison and Jean Prouvé, as well as special editions of iconic Vitra designs by Charles and Ray Eames.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Plywood Chairs by Charles & Ray Eames , Vitra will present a limited edition of the LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) equipped with a black base with seat and back in dark brown walnut, the Plywood LCW 75th Anniversary Edition chair. The Plywood Chairs aroused great attention when they came out in 1945 and gained great acclaim between design critics and the public. Time Magazine called LCW "the chair of the century". Charles Eames stated that “a chair should look equally beautiful both from above and below. If you design a chair, it must be a complete chair. "
