The original Chaise Nicolle were first created in 1933 in France by Paul-Henry Nicolle to meet the then demand for comfortable, functional factory seating. Over time the industrial design evolved, giving rise to new models with the ever present signature “whale tail” backrest, a design element which is now synonymous with the brand. A range of adjustable, stackable versions also followed adding new finishes and heights to the handcrafted product range.

The classic Nicolle brand continues to evolve, whilst preserving its timeless industrial styling, with a new collection of outdoor and waterproof chairs created by Paola Navone incorporating innovations into the original design such as a lightening of the structure and a revised colour selection. The new additions reflect the brand’s continued Made in France global appeal almost a century after its first production was started.
