Vitra Akari Collection

The elegantly intriguing Akari Light sculptures, designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1951, were inspired by traditional paper lanterns used by Japanese fishermen during night fishing. Over 100 variations of the delicate bamboo and washi paper lamps are handcrafted in the Japanese city of Gifu, encompassing table, floor and pendant options in a broad range of forms and sizes.
