Bocci 118 T Table Lamp

118 is a large lamp family produced by the elegant brand Bocci. 118 is available in different models. This lamp collection is made of glass, brass and electrical components. Each 118 lamp contains dozens of small feather-like shapes in opal glass. When illuminated from within, these inner shapes become even sharper. Collection conceived in 2022. Launched in 2023.

Glass has a memory, it retains the shapes it was exposed to when it was still molten. The dozens of small feather-like shapes in the 118 collection in opal glass result from this extraordinary ability. When illuminated from within, the intricacy of 118's inner shapes becomes even more apparent. The undulating inner layer of each 118 carries with it the ghost of the steel cage used in its formation. The air blown into its core pushes the molten glass into the cavities of the cage. Gravity and heat push these unpredictable, multiple tendrils to elongate, following the initial shape determined by the steel. The cage, cut away in a final stage, is cleaned and used to seed another 118. From the weather outside Bocci's workshop and the mood of the glassblower, to the chemical composition of the glass, each 118 is based on numerous uncontrollable factors.
