Made Well in Italy: Giorgetti, the essentiality of wood
Giorgetti is a mixture of well-chosen signatures, artisan traditions, attention to detail. Giorgetti's furniture is simple and elegant, unique and recognizable. Founded more than a century ago in Meda, Lombardy, the Italian design company fully represents the values that made up a worl-renowned concept, that of Made in Italy: craftsmanship and continuous innovation.
As a matter of fact, Giorgetti fully produces its furniture in Italy, as all the other companies that have made the history of Italian design. Founded by Luigi Giorgetti as a workshop in 1898, the company soon proved its international vocation. starting to export carved-finished materials for seating, chairs, tables in the United States just twenty years after its birth.
In early 60s the company began to export fully finished products. At first the style was very classical but from the 70s it began more and more modern, as shown by the Gazebo and Gallery collections. Between the 70s and 80s Giorgetti grew, thanks to an important process of industrialization and productive innovation. The Matrix brand was created, with furnishings signed by Paolo and Adriano Suman, Massimo Morozzi and Anna Castelli Ferrier. In 1987, the company launched the Progetti collection, a series of armchairs and sofas that today, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary, is living a second youth with a Limited Edition.
The Progetti collection is characterised by the Pau ferro, a Brazilian essence with a typical reddish color, very hard and resistant to moisture. It's just one of the many types of wood skilfully transformed by Giorgetti into functional and refined, durable and versatile pieces of furniture. From the 90s, these precious woods have been increasingly associated with new materials. Back then the brand started collaborating with a selection of architects, artists, intellectuals: Antonello Mosca, Massimo Scolari, Léon Krier, Chi Wing Lo and many others marked a turning point in the history of Giorgetti, exploring new solutions to support the company's design department.
