De La Espada, a leading Portuguese manufacturer of solid wood furniture, merges cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship to create fine pieces of furniture. From the Elysia lounge chair to the new Azores collection by Luca Nichetto, De La Espada's products embody a unique combination of creative approach to design and top European craftsmanship.

In 1993, Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada, respectively from Porto and Madrid, founded De La Espada in London, when contemporary furniture was hardly available. The company was later influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, the Scandinavian design of the 1950s and prominent architects like Tadao Ando, Luis Barragán, John Pawson and Álvaro Siza. Today, their creations are manufactured in the solar-powered factory in Portugal, the heart of the company's business.
