Karpeta rugs began life in Reggio Calabria, a land known for exchange and a coveted landing place in the Mediterranean, where different peoples, travellers and cultures have met since the beginning of time. The textile works of Daniele Morabito, the founder, inherit this philosophy of encounter, they combine the most ancient techniques of processing and weaving - such as manual knotting in which the knots are tightened one by one - with current aesthetics and contemporary design, relevant in the present.
Karpeta is distinguished by a great desire, to hybridise. The rugs textures are the symbol of this, the interweaving of fabrics reflects the interweaving of land and sea, myth and reality, past and present. In fact, only from these encounters can stories arise, and an ornamental, furnishing or collectible object is all the more precious and worthy as it is the bearer of an experience, of a story to be told and handed down.
