Thonet

The brand Thonet, known worldwide as the result of an almost bicentenary tradition, is one of the furniture’s historic producers in the design’s world. Founded in 1819 at Frankenberg, in Germany, in the ’30s reaches the peak of success: brilliant Bauhaus’ members including Marcel Breuer, Mart Stam and Mies van der Rohe start to work for Thonet producing historic design pieces. The use of the solid wood bending innovative technique introduced in 1859 and the use of tubular steel makes the famous Thonet chairs unique along with the tables, the desks and the other pieces of furniture.
