Foscarini Buds 2 Suspension Lamp Designed by Rodolfo Dordoni

A collection of blown-glass lamps exploring different pairings of shapes and tones: this is the idea of Rodolfo Dordoni for Foscarini, born in the nineties and revisited by the designer in 2016. The Buds 2 pendant lamp carries this research upwards, hanging above the surface, and makes glass, worked with artisan care, the centre of the whole project.

The diffuser is mouth-blown and crafted by hand in five layers, appreciable at first sight thanks to the wide cut of the opening. It is the glass, more than any other component, that defines the design: a full, gleaming volume that, above a table or a kitchen island, makes the Buds 2 lamp a precious object, to be observed even when it is not lit, with the depth that only layering can give.

The light passes through the layers of glass and spreads into the room, revealing the precious material of the mouth-blown diffuser. Above a table, an island or a counter, the Buds 2 pendant lamp defines the area through the presence of the glass alone and brings into the space the refined richness of materials that is the hallmark of the whole collection, even in the most essential settings.
