Luigi Caccia Dominioni
Luigi Caccia Dominioni (1913-2016) was among the greatest protagonists of architecture and interior design during the second post-war period. A brilliant interpreter of Milanese tradition, he pursued the search for modernity in any project. His works range from the 1996 restoration of the renowned Piazza San Babila in Milan to the buildings in Piazza SantโAmbrogio and Piazza Carbonari, from furniture, to lighting and design objects. Luigi Caccia Dominioni was also among the forefathers of Azucena (1947), a brand that boasts great design classics such as the Monachella light bulbs and the Catilina collection of chairs, stools and armchairs.
Many pieces by Luigi Caccia Dominioni express a subtle irony and a floaty style that sometimes approaches surrealism.
โLike so many of his contemporaries, Caccia experimented with the scale of objects, enlarging and shrinking them and playing with their proportions.โ
