Umberto Asnago
Umberto Asnago has dedicated his whole professional life to the world of design, becoming one of the masters of its evolution, but always preserving his passion towards traditional manufacture and crafting. He was born in 1949 and graduated at the Istituto d’Arte in Cantù; his first field of expertise was solid wood, which he trained by working in local carpentries, and then as a planner for Giorgetti S.p.a. and director of the very same Giorgetti's Research Centre.
The devotion towards the universe of design prompted Asnago to leave his work as a director and to commit entirely to his passion. His creativity was under the spotlight, and many high-end design companies can boast brilliant partnerships with the genius of Asnago, among which Penta and Porada, in the fields of lighting and furniture. His creative evolution brought him back to Giorgetti as a designer in 2011, keeping his focus on the crafting of solid wood and leather covers.
