Papyrus Chair

Papyrus is an iconic and comfortable armchair in transparent polycarbonate, designed by the Bouroullec brothers for the all-Italian brand Kartell.

Mirabile conjugation of simplicity, refinement, grace and memory, Papyrus refers to the archetype of the old chairs in wicker, when the structure had the decisive and very marked trait. The armchair combines the translucent support part with a very thin vertical knurling, which traces the outside of the rounded back, with soft and enveloping shapes. The seat is comfortable and welcoming, the entire lightweight structure. The wide range of new "old fashioned" shades in which Papyrus is proposed make the play of the worked surface even more evident and seductive.

Formal perfection, clear lines and creative freedom - these is Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's magic formula. Born respectively in 1971 and 1976, they both graduated in Art and founded their own studio at the end of the 90s. Unity makes strenght - their Cuisine Déstructurée caught Giulio Cappellini's eye, so they received the first industrial design commissions and went on to impose themselves on the international scene thanks to a collaboration with Vitra. Bouroullec brothers work for some of the most important international design brands, such as Ligne Roset, Flos, Magis and Mattiazzi and are able to join essential shapes with innovative materials and environmentally friendly manufacturing - this allowed them to win, among other prizes, the prestigious Wallpaper* Design Award 2016 in the category "Best Designers of the Year".
