Chester, by Poltrona Frau, is an armchair designed by Renzo Frau. Seasoned beech wood. Seat suspension with hand-tied steel springs connected to jute belts. Horsehair padded seat. Hand-shaped horsehair backrest and armrests. Down-filled seat cushions. The backrest has hand-crafted diamond-shaped tufting. The external back of the chair is finished with a row of leather tacks.

In the Chester armchair the craftsmanship passed down through generations is recognized in tufted backrests and armrests with a series of leather-covered nails that finish on the back with elegance and timeless luxury. An armchair with a classic design and a meticulous finish and of high value for a great cult of international design.

The history of Poltrona Frau can be traced back to one figure, Lorenzo Frau, aka Renzo. A man from the military world who, passionate about design, started one of the largest Made in Italy companies. During a business trip to England he discovered the Chesterfield sofa and, sensing its potential, was the first to bring it to Italy. Driven by a passion for French and Central European design, he decided to open his own workshop. In 1912 Poltrona Frau was born.
